While the Swamimalai Temple in Yelagiri is more well-known, the Mangalam temple too has its own importance. In fact, to get to the Swamimalai Temple you have to start at the Mangalam village. From this village you can trek up to the Swamimalai Temple.
The Managalam village is located in Yelagiri Hills in the Vellore District of Tamil Nadu.
In Mangalam village there is a lotus pond around which there is a heritage village. If you are visiting in the month of July you are likely to be in the midst of a cultural festival with the temple at the center of it.
At the Mangalam Temple what you should not miss is part of a chariot which is kept in an adjacent structure (see photo below)
After visiting the Mangalam temple, you can proceed to the Swamimalai temple.
