I first heard of Flurys, Kolkata in the film Parineeta, in which the losing team of a game of cards treats the winning team to an evening out at Flurys. Some time back, the building where Flurys was located - St.Stephen Court - was partially engulfed in flames. Did Flurys shut down? No way! Flury's is a venerable landmark of Kolkata, much like the Victoria Memorial. So Flury's just shifted to new premises a little distance away from its original spot.
In all its revamped glory, it looks magnificent.
Manificent Flurys
More important, the mouthwatering menu at Flurys Kolkata remains intact: cakes and breads fresh from the oven, puddings and pastries, chocolates and cookies. The display across the walls itself sets you drooling!
Display of Delights
The beverages at Flury Kolkata too are delightful, including the famous Flurys tea, hot mocha and coffee varieties.
Tried and recommended: beans on toast, omelette (of 3 eggs!), cakes and muffins which included bits of walnut & chocolate.
Bread-Omlette
Cakes
Sandwich
Note: Dining at Flurys, Kolkata is not exactly cheap, with prices at Flurys Kolkata generally starting at about Rs.90/-. The omelette I had cost Rs.300/- !! Nevertheless, you MUST eat at least once when staying in Kolkata.
