Staying in Kolkata Homestays: Sunflower Guest House

When visiting Kolkata, capital city of West Bengal, India, I would recommend just one place: Sunflower Guest House.

Before I tell you of this wonderful homestay, though, here's an important tip: you need to show some ID to book accommodation at the Sunflower Guest House. Indians, foreigners, adults, kids - ALL must have some ID. For your kids you can take along their school ID or passport.

The Sunflower Guest House, Kolkata is actually a part of a residential storeyed building, but is independent of the other homes in the building.

Location of Sunflower Guest House Kolkata: One of the many superb aspects of the Sunflower Guest House is its location. It is close to Hogg Market and one of the city's most popular tourist attractions: the Victoria Memorial Museum. At the same time, the Sunflower Guest House is in a quiet by-lane and not out on the main street as such.

Rooms at Sunflower Guest House Kolkata: There are about 30 rooms, all very comfortable. For just Rs.1000/- you get: 2 beds, 24hrs. water in clean washroom & a TV in an air-conditioned room which is not excessively cramped. It's a steal!

Facilities at Sunflower Guest House Kolkata: What's more, at the Sunflower Guest House you can get your laundry done at only Rs.9/- per garment (think of the over-the-top prices you pay at even the most ordinary hotels!!). The service is very courteous, but not excessively so.

Dining at Sunflower Guest House Kolkata: Breakfast & meal charges are extra, but value for money. We had the usual bread-omelette breakfast and for other meals we dined in the city on our sightseeing trips around Kolkata.
